Snowy Thanksgiving Morning!

Thursday, November 25, 2010

"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11).

What a beautiful picture Judy! And the perfect words to go with it. I pray that I can speak his words and I am thankful for his word through others.

Great shot Judy. The evergreen backdrop really made the flakes stand out. Above that tree line you can't tell it is snowing. That's the problem I have had with capturing snow flakes. The flakes look feathery.

Yesterday morning was Thanksgiving, and the first snow of the season. Across the street from our house is an historic church building built in 1820. The old square building is crowned with a high pitched roof pinnacled in the center with a steeple.

As the flakes began to fall, a man arrived who was readying the old sanctuary for its annual sacred use. I had never seen it used before living in this home less than a year.

The flakes started coming down harder while more and more people arrived, resembling some natural meter of traffic to this temple. When the arrivals ceased the flakes faltered. The heavens praised our Lord welcoming His worshipers and, then, like a bulletin item on cue, exited the scene.

I have observed nature worshiping God many times. This event was so remarkable because because Nature seemed on schedule, cooperating with the worship of humanity.

Tranquil and almost too perfect to be real; God's perfection. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Judy, I'm envious of the snow--I love it!

Concerning the question you asked about my cameras--I think the pictures you commented about were taken with my Canon S90. It is an awesome little camera for certain things but will not do everything. I describe my other camera and lens on my "Photography" section on my blog. I don't have any expensive lenses but I depend heavily on photo editing programs, especially IPHOTO and Photoshop. Hope this answers your question.

Sure hope your Thanksgiving was a lovely one--

Love,
Dianne

Hello Judy, this snow scene was beautiful as were the accompanying words. We are spending the holiday in GA so no snow and nearly 70 degree temps right before Thanksgiving, but now down to the 50-60s.
